Deck Profile 01: A Real Maelstrom

As I've mentioned on my previous blog, I will be sharing a deck-build occasionally. This time will be featuring the best way to play an Aqua Force Maelstrom deck with Admiral Maelstrom as the main stride unit.

Alright first off, These are your grade 4 stride units that you will need in your deck.
Oh and the grade 0 starter should be Bubble Edge Dracokid.

Bare in mind, the 2x blizza should be changed to Lambros. But if you want to save up some money (cuz Lambros is freaking expensive). Blizza works too. Your aim is to stride Admiral Maelstrom continuously while paying the cost with useless stride units (the 2x Tidal Bore Dragon). And then end it with Blizza (or Lambros if you're rich enough to afford 2x).

These will be your grade 3 line-up.

After a long testing on experimenting this deck, here's the weakness that I've managed to compensate. You see, Maelstrom decks are normally used to increase your hand size after every succeeding 4th battle. In other words, there's a high probability that you WILL draw an extra card if you were to make your Maelstrom attack on the 4th battle (Which is an easy job for Aqua Force to do since that's their clan mechanic). But you're constantly drawing card's every 4th battle and spamming strides almost every turn, you WILL deck out without your opponent having in need to beat you. That's when you'll need Zaharius to Legion and restore triggers back into your deck to end the game faster (don't forget your mate :)

Maelstrom Reverse should be your main Grade 3 Vanguard (NO, you don't need Glory Maelstrom because it's too risky to get 5 damage just for it's ultimate break to become effective). I did say that you will be striding every turn. But what happens if you couldn't stride??? (you're screwed with just a useless Glory Maelstrom sitting in as your vanguard). Maelstrom Reverse is more effective because you gain a "critical" just by making it attack on the 4th battle. And obviously your opponent has to guard (cuz u know, there's a "crit") And you draw a card if the attack doesn't hit while retiring one of your opponent's rear guards. (Now that's O.P.)

Here's when things get interesting with grade 2 and 1 units...

Of course you'll need 4x of the mate (Ianis). 4x Tidal assault and 2x Magnum assault (Note: Do NOT play 4x Magnum because your deck will become "counter blast-heavy.) What you're aiming for is "Mega hand-size" while ending it with Legion with huge amount of triggers back into your deck. So Saberflow Sailor is good for increasing your handsize. (When she attacks the opponent vanguard on the 4th or higher battle, after attacking, retire her and draw 2 cards.)

Your grade 1 units would be 4x null guard unflippers (every time you nullified an attack, you un-flipped a "counterblasted" damage). 3x Nikki (your deck has the potential to let you stride with 10 cards instead of 7). 4x Stacia (cuz people are going to get annoyed by that back-row 9k whacker) and 2x Penguin soldier (MEGA-HAND SIZE B****HES, remember that). The best way to make a 4th battle for your vanguard is to have a Tidal Assault and a Stacia in the same column. They spam up to 3 battles (Tidal 2x battles and Stacia 1x battle). Allowing your Maelstrom vanguard to be on the 4th battle.

Finally, this would be your trigger line-up.

8x crits, 4x draws and 4x heals. The critical triggers MUST have 4x Despina because she supports Maelstrom a lot and gets returned into the deck after every 4th battle. (Basically, you refreshed your critical triggers to increase your chances when drive-checking.) 4x supersonic sailor might be useful since you are counter blasting with every Maelstrom unit. and there's no guarantee that the null guard unflippers are going to compensate completely. (There's also your Magnum assault...)

The best formation you should be playing should be like this...

With Tidal assault and Stacia in one column pumping up 3x battles. Maelstrom comes in on the 4th battle with the support of Despina which prevent your opponent using grade 0 to guard (waste their null guards and even better if you're a 20k whacker with Maelstrom Reverse). And then increase your hand-size with Saberflow Sailor on the 5th battle and her support can be either Stacia or Penguin Soldier. (The penguin allows your to draw a card juz by soul-blasting 2x cards.)

Well there are other formation you can use but I find this to be the best one it can be. So what do you all think about this deck-build, let me know through the comments and if you are interested in buying it. leave a message through www.facebook.com/cardfightvanguardstuff . I hope this deck profile has been helpful to all Aqua Force players out there. Until next time, see ya.
